About the ACE Garage – ACE HISTORIC VEHICLE COLLECTION

About The Collection

Founded in 1900, the Automobile Club of Southern California pioneered many services as it grew to become one of the largest motorist organizations in the world. The ACE Historic Vehicle Collection began in 1978, when the Auto Club bought and restored a 1924 Dodge truck as a way to represent its long legacy of service to members and the public. The truck proved so popular at community events that the Auto Club acquired more historic vehicles in order to portray the range of services that the Club had provided over the years. This truck remains a highlight of the ACE Historic Vehicle Collection.

Since 1996, the Auto Club began affiliating with other clubs and became part of Auto Club Enterprises, or ACE, including motor clubs in 21 other states where historic tow trucks and service vehicles have also proved popular. A restored 1931 Ford Model A service truck representing AAA Texas sits proudly at the entrance of the Coppell, Texas Administrative Office. More recently, the collection was expanded to capture some of the innovation and excitement of various aspects of car culture. A highly engineered Funny Car connects with the sport of drag racing. A group of convertibles from the late 1950s recalls the feeling of cruising along the open road with the top down. A modified Model A roadster represents the distinctive customizing culture.
